Bulgaria

Bulgaria is famous for its high-quality rose oil (attar of roses), used worldwide in luxury perfumes; the country supplies about 70-80% of global production from the Rose Valley. It also produces excellent yogurt cultures (Lactobacillus bulgaricus), cosmetics, and traditional rose-based liqueurs and jams. Bulgarian wine, especially from Mavrud and Melnik grapes, enjoys growing international recognition.
